10 Beauty and Skincare Rules to Follow NOW!

Posted by & filed under News.

No matter how many times we’re told how important it is to take care of our skin, it doesn’t usually become a priority until we notice visible signs of change. Here are some things you can start doing now, to make a big impact later!

  • Don’t go to bed with makeup on. How many times have you arrived home and felt too tired to take off your makeup? Probably too often! Give your skin a fair chance by allowing it to breath, replenish and renew while you sleep!
  • Do clean your makeup brushes. Take the time to properly clean brushes, sponges and applicators to avoid unsightly breakouts.
  • Don’t wash your hair every day. Over-cleansing can strip your hair of essential oil and no amount of expensive smoothing serum will fix that.
  • Do read labels. Most of us don’t stop and read the list of ingredients in our favorite makeup and skincare products. Take the time to educate yourself on what goes ON your body. It’s just as important as knowing what goes IN it. Natural, clinically proven products are always a good bet.
  • Don’t over – pluck your eyebrows. Like makeup and fashion, eyebrow grooming goes through trendy phases. The 80’s were all about full brows and the 90’s by contrast, pencil thin ones. Play it safe and leave grooming to the professionals!
  • Do take care of the delicate skin around your eyes. Nobody thinks about fine lines and wrinkles in their 20s, but starting a proper skincare routine that includes an eye cream rich in vitamins and antioxidants is important. The earlier, the better.
  • Don’t pop pimples. Do yourself a favor and resist the urge to pick. Squeezing blemishes causes skin trauma and can lead to redness and scarring.
  • Do start a daily skin care regimen for face and body. Look for mild, gentle cleansers and natural, good-for-your-skin ingredients that soften, hydrate and protect. Both oily and dry skin benefit from proper hydration.
  • Don’t forget your H2O. Drink your way to beautiful skin by keeping a bottle of water by your side. Adequate water intake helps keep skin hydrated and healthy from the inside out.
  • Do use a broad spectrum SPF. Protect your skin from harmful UV light with a daily dose of SPF. Your future self will thank you.

Caitlin’s Story

Receiving testimonials from people whose lives have been changed because of Skinfix is incredibly heartwarming. Read on for Caitlin’s story.

I am a new mom and am very cautious of what products I use on my baby. I have tried a few different “natural” baby washes that are on the market and I noticed that my daughter who normally loves the water, (I can dunk her right under at the pool or dump water over her head without a tear), cries and tries to get out of the tub every time I would wash her hair. It wasn’t until I started using SkinFix Gentle Hair and Body Wash that I realized these supposedly “tear-free” products were the culprit. Now when I wash her hair with SkinFix GHBW I am amazed at her reaction, (or lack thereof), she doesn’t cry or try to get away she just continues splashing and playing with her toys, thanks SkinFix for making bath time truly “tear free”! Your products grace every bathroom in our home!

Did you know dry, parched skin is one of the first signs of diabetes? High glucose levels cause the body to lose fluids which can lead to skin that is cracked and extra dry, particularly on the hands and feet.

That’s exactly what happened to Yuliya Loginov’s son, Sacha. When he was seven years old, he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. It was a shock for the entire family who always made every effort to eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly.

“Sacha’s skin was always itchy, explains Yuliya. “His scalp and legs in particular. And since he sometimes had to take 12-15 glucose tests a day, his fingers had callouses and were always cracked. The use of alcohol swabs before every single reading didn’t help.”

Sacha tried several products, but all to no avail. He couldn’t seem to shake the itchy, flaky skin. When he tried Skinfix’s Diabetic Skincare regimen, he couldn’t believe the difference.

“All of a sudden, his skin didn’t itch as much. He didn’t have the rash that normally appeared after bathing.”

Skinfix Diabetic Collection is made without fragrance, parabens or phthalates and works to gently moisturize the skin without stripping. Since Sacha also used a daily pump to provide regular doses of insulin throughout the day, he needed to use a special adhesive to keep it in place. This made his skin extremely dry, red and itchy.

Skinfix Moisturizing Body Wash and Daily Relief Lotion gently soothes and softens skin and our Healing Foot & Leg Balm and Hand Relief Cream are clinically proven to moisturize and treat dry, cracked, irritated skin. The entire line is fragrance and urea free and is dermatologist recommended for people living with diabetes.

Ethan’s Story

Posted by & filed under News.

Three and half year old Ethan has been suffering with eczema for most of his young life. When he was only a few weeks old, his parents noticed scaly, red patches on his scalp, around his nose, on the backs of his legs and on his elbows. When traditional soaps and lotions failed to work, they made an appointment with their family doctor who promptly diagnosed him with eczema. According to the National Eczema Association, eczema most often makes an appearance in the first 6 months of life and may last into adulthood.

In babies and young children who have delicate and sensitive skin by nature, eczema can be especially hard to manage as it is difficult to prevent scratching- one of the many uncomfortable symptoms of the disease. The biggest struggle for Ethan’s mom, Kelly was trying to keep him away from those rough, itchy spots. “He’s always playing outside and his fingernails are dirty. When he scratches his face and arms, all of that filth gets on his skin. He’s had infections on his face because of that.” A proper skincare regimen that addresses both dryness and inflammation is critical to keeping eczema flare ups at bay.

In children, this includes daily baths using tepid water and a mild, non-irritating wash like our Gentle Hair and Body Wash. Kelly says she noticed a difference the very first time she bathed Ethan with it. “He didn’t complain that his skin was burning like he normally does during bath time. We’ve used other products in the past that just exasperated his skin.” After three days of using the Gentle Eczema Regimen, signs of his eczema had disappeared and family members began noticing how great his skin looked. “For me, it’s not so much about the appearance. I’m just glad he’s not uncomfortable and itchy anymore.”
Keeping parched skin all over the body well hydrated is a must for people battling eczema. Our Gentle Moisturizing Lotion is infused with natural moisturizers, vitamins and soothing botanicals that quickly absorb to help banish dryness all over the body and is fragrance-free so it won’t cause a flare up.

When used on dry, red, itchy patches, our Gentle Eczema Balm is an alternative to steroid topical treatments and provides instant relief and helps to slow down eczema flare-ups and sooth its uncomfortable symptoms.

Kelly says she found the entire Gentle Eczema Regimen easy to use and very helpful in keeping Ethan’s skin healthy. “The Gentle Eczema Balm did a great job at stopping the itch and calming his skin.”

Using products with natural ingredients that won’t irritate the skin is of paramount importance for parents of babies and young children with eczema. Our entire Gentle Eczema Regimen was formulated with this in mind, contains natural ingredients and is free of steroids, nut ingredients, fragrance, soy, gluten, parabens and phthalates. The line is pediatrician tested, dermatologist recommended, endorsed by the National Eczema Association and the recipient of the Parent Tested Parent Approved Seal.

“I am your biggest spokesperson now.” Says Kelly. “I tell everyone about how much we love Skinfix. My husband has dermatitis on his legs and we noticed a huge difference after he used some of Ethan’s Skinfix Gentle Eczema Balm. You have a customer for life!”

A Journey of Healing – 16 Months Steroid Free!

Posted by & filed under News.

Like so many other parents out there today, we have battled the eczema monster that tortured our son from the first few months of his life. My son, Thomas, is now 10 years old and we are finally winning the fight! We have our lives back and it’s due to our discovery of Red Skin Syndrome (Topical Steroid Withdrawal) and Skinfix.
Any parent that has a child suffering with eczema knows they are willing to try absolutely anything to make the itch and pain go away. Over the years we tried everything from elimination diets, allergy testing and visits to a naturopath. One question always remained – why was his eczema spreading and getting worse instead of better? We hated using the steroid creams prescribed by our doctors (which not to mention over the years kept getting stronger) and used them as prescribed and extremely sparingly. Until one night, after spending hours googling for answers, our lives changed.
We found ITSAN – The International Topical Steroid Addiction Network ( It was as though people had taken pictures of our son’s skin and posted them on the internet. Could this really be? We finally had our answer! The very creams prescribed to help our son were in fact making his eczema spiral out of control. The only remedy: stop the steroids. Yes, that’s it. Well, we wish what followed was as simple.
The journey of steroid withdrawal can last several months or even years. What followed were months of Thomas’ body crying out for the steroids. His skin was red, intensely itchy and swollen at times. He didn’t feel well many days as his body fought against the damage. His skin would flare, burn, crack and shed. We felt helpless when one day I heard the ad for Skinfix on the radio. They had me at the tag line all natural ingredients! I immediately went out and purchased it to try.
Skinfix Baby Eczema Balm was the only cream Thomas would allow me to use on his skin in the beginning months of the withdrawal process. All other creams burned and made him itch even more. Our almost daily routine was a bath in Epsom salts, a layer of Skinfix then tubular bandages over top. This went on for months until finally the flares began to subside and we saw his skin gaining strength. It was a miracle.
After many months of ups and down, we are so happy to say Thomas is 16 months steroid free! We do have the occasional irritations here and there, but one application of Skinfix after a shower does the trick. We could not have done this without the knowledge of the ITSAN Forum, the encouragement of our Facebook support group, and the wonderful steroid free Skinfix Baby Eczema Balm. Our journey is not over but my son has his life back. He is a normal, active and carefree 10 year old again!
